Anime as art
« on: April 13, 2006, 12:22:45 PM »
I once heard in animax that anime can be considered as art, I think is possible to be considered like this, PVC figures can be considered like plastic arts and there are anime paintings. However, what do you think?

I believe anime can be considered as art, but that doesn't makes all anime art.

I think it's a matter of getting the whole ANIME team to work and keep up an original style, and a different perception in whatever the anime series can be about.  I belieive some characteristic/esential aspects may include:

-Backgrounds [not only simple-colored transparencies.. well, depends...]
-Music [to show the sense of the scene, or the presentation of the series itself... important, too]
-Characters and plot [obviously, because it is generally the whole thing the series will be developing in, etc.]
-Extras [language used (the target audience), themes discussed (indirectly/directly), influence in society or porpused just for fun, etc]

Anyways, people can change their minds and opinion very greatly from what they watch, so I believe we'd better respect likes and dislikes very much and try to have our personal belief of whatever [anime/thing] we talk about.

I believe it's good to find some kind of useful or entertaining information from anime [like the meaning of the names, or some historical information (as in Rurouni Kenshin you could learn from the Eras of the past Japan and the environments of the surroundings, weapons, ideals, people, places...), etc]

Learn and follow, wait and lead;
tasted water, heard the wind.

Yes, it is true. Also the manga drawing is art, it is a  simpler representation of a human

Actually ... ... Who determines what is art?..

It all depends on the viewer and the autor ... If the autor or the viewer consider it art ... then it is art ... the moment no one considers it art ... it stops being art ... that is the compplex part of art XP

PS I think I used a lot the word "art" XD

I hate this define art stuff... art is something created by someone, for more specific definitions, ask someone else.

People determine what's art, you wouln't be asking a plant if it's art would you?

Mhe, if I say it's not art then it's not art for me which is kind of enough for me.
I don't need luck, I have skill.

Sort of....

I still keep my initial post, not everything can be art, so not all anime is art, or else art wouldn't get recognition.

Well ... I like to keep an open mind so as long as something might be consider as art... then I'll give it the benefit of the doubt...

Man ... you manage to give no answer at all ...

Beside you already said you agree with him ... so how come he can be right or wrong ... that would mean you are rigth or wring too ... or did you change your mind about this?

anyway ... who do you think can decide whether something is art or not?

I'm agree, but is not that anyone can decide, but this is a hard question.

lol...

That's why I asked him to tell me who he thinks is able to decide whether something is art or not... ...

'cause you (Mephistopheles) already told us that you decide if something is art ... I said that for me almost everything is art ... mhe ... maybe is the medicine talking ... XD

Anyway ... Lord*Yakov didn't answer at all my question so I may stop asking XP
